Michael Easley has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder investigation of 30-year-old Timothy Shatley, of Ashe County. Mr. Shatley was shot with a large caliber firearm at the intersection of NC Hwy. 16 and Old Field Creek Rd., at approx. 11:25 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005. During this time, a white Ford Explorer was seen in the area. The Ashe County Sheriff’s Office and NC State Bureau of Investigation are seeking the driver of this vehicle as a potential witness, who may have information regarding the murder. WE HAVE A COOL TESTIMONY for you about the Secondhand News. Our son was out with friends and left his $200 digital camera in the parking lot of a church—no where near where we live. A week later (after searching everywhere, calling friends in the area and the church with no results), we placed an ad in the Secondhand News. Near the end of the second week of the ad’s run with no calls, we were certain the camera was gone. Then we received a call from a lady who saw our ad. She did not have the camera, but she had seen a poster at the post office that someone had found a digital camera, however there was no call-back number on the poster. She did what she could to get the two of us together. Meanwhile, our son made a poster about losing the camera and drove out to that PO and placed his ad beside the other one. Two days later, our son received a call from the man who had found the camera. They arranged to meet and our son brought proof that he was indeed the owner of the camera. A very happy ending—THREE weeks later, due to the fact that someone made the connection between our ad and a poster we would have NEVER seen!
